Teachers

Greek teachers at “LEXIS Centre” have many years experience of teaching the Greek language as a foreign language and enjoy their work immensely. They are exclusively graduates of University language schools and they are native speakers of the Greek language .

Maria Foundoulaki - Program Manager

Maria Foundoulaki, programs manager in Lexis Greek language Centre, has lived in Chania since 1994. She was born and grew up in Athens. She completed her studies and received her diploma from School of Philosophy of the University of Crete in 1993

In 2018 she completed her Master in Teaching Greek Language as a foreign /second language , University of Nicosia and Greek Language Centre of Thessaloniki.

  • She has been working in private and public schools in Chania since 1994.Since 1998 she has taught Greek as a second/foreign language to foreigners, immigrant students and repatriated Greeks in Chania.She also teaches Greek to children of emigrants in public schools in Chania through Greek language programmes that are organized by the University of Thessaloniki .She has completed the “Diadromes” training course which was for teachers of Greek language as a second/foreign language.
  • Since 2000 she has worked as a teacher and as a programmes manager in Lexis Greek language Centre in Chania of which she is also a founding member. She has taught Greek at all levels and she has great experience in advanced levels for interpreters/translators working with the E.U.
    She also has great experience in preparing students of Greek for the examinations of attainment in Greek Language (Greek Language Centre)
  • In 2017 and 2018 she was an instructor in the Greek language for the reintegration of foreigners released from prisons in Chania. She also teaches Greek in volunteer programs for the social integration of refugees in Chania.
  • She speaks English (C2) and German (B1)
  • She writes articles for the annual edition of the illustration for Greek Language and Culture “η γνώση ταξιδεύει …ελληνικά” ,of the association Dia.Logos which is located in Bern ,Switzerland (see some articles on blog…)

She is interested in every language teaching method in which cultural activities are involved, considering that “experiential learning” is essential for a deep and real understanding of the language and culture.
